The Warwick Student Arts Festival is running a new competition for young people in Coventry and Warwickshire as part of the Funday Sunday event on 27th June 2010. The day will feature an array of arts including music, dance and theatre performed by Warwick University students and young people from the local area.
The Young Artist Awards is open to all young people aged 5-18, living in Coventry and Warwickshire.
This year WSAF will be working with The Mead Gallery in Warwick Arts Centre. The theme for The Young Artist Awards will, therefore, be linked with work that the gallery is exhibiting in June, entitled Journeys into the Disregarded.
The Young Artist Awards calls for participants to submit their own artwork that has been inspired by what the theme means to them. For 5-11 year olds the theme will be Hidden Treasures and for 12-18 year olds, Journeys into the Disregarded. Artwork can be submitted in the categories of 2D Art, Creative Writing or Photography (age restrictions apply, see below) and various interpretations are encouraged.
Each person may submit ONE entry to each category.
